     Edward Rawson Godfrey was born on 19 November 1907 at Bangor, Maine. He was educated in 1925 at Middlesex School, Concord, Massachusetts; and graduated 1929 from MIT with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He was a naval aviator in the Naval Reserve; a test pilot in World War II; and an engineer with Grumman Aircraft where he worked on the lunar landing project. In 1962 Grumman won the contract to build the Lunar Module for Project Apollo, which was the spacecraft that would take Americans to the moon. On July 20, 1969, Apollo XI, with Lunar Module Eagle, landed astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin on the moon's "Sea of Tranquility". It was "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". The first men on the moon landed in a spacecraft built by Long Islanders, including Edward "Rawson" Godfrey. He married Gladys Sutton Cowdrey, daughter of Loren Montague Cowdrey and Gladys Pauline Watson, on 25 April 1931. Edward Rawson Godfrey died on 13 September 1994 at Lloyd Neck, Long Island, New York, at age 86.

     Edward Rawson Godfrey III was born on 15 November 1932 at New York City. Edward grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1956 with a degree in civil engineering. He served in the Air Force from 1957-58 and was stationed in Greenland. He was a department manager at SNET until his retirement at age 59. Edward had a passion for sailing and was a member of the North Cove Yacht Club in Old Saybrook where, for 15 years, he was president of youth sailing. With family and friends he cruised the New England waterways from Maine to New York and spent a winter sailing south to Central Florida via the Intercoastal Waterway. He married Joanne Arnold on 26 November 1983. Edward Rawson Godfrey III died on 27 January 2017 at age 84.

     Edward Rawson Godfrey was born on 27 December 1877 at Bangor, Maine. He was educated 1899 at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine,Harvard Law School 1900-01, and University of Maine Law School, 1905-7. He was an accomplished athlete in college, and passed strength tests, surpassing college athletes not only in Maine, but around the country. Later his strength test records exceeded those of men around the world. He played the piano by ear, and delighted his family, after they had attended a musical show, by playing on the piano the music that they had just heard. Edward Rawson Godfrey was interested in the development of commercial aviation in Bangor, in contrast to the residents who were opposed to the idea, and was responsible for establishing the Bangor Airport. He purchased 500 acres, bit by bit, which became known as "Godfrey's Field" which eventually became the airport and runway. The main road to the terminal buildings was named "Godfrey Boulevard" after him. The first scheduled passenger flight took off to Boston on August 1, 1931. He married Emma Cornelia Eastman, daughter of Austin Vitruvius Eastman and Mary Elizabeth Scoville, on 22 February 1905. Edward Rawson Godfrey died on 2 December 1958 at Bangor, Maine, at age 80. He was buried on 7 December 1958 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor,in the family plot.

     Emma Cornelia Eastman was born on 12 August 1876 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was educated at Smith College in 1899. As of 1905,her married name was Godfrey. She married Edward Rawson Godfrey, son of George Frederick Godfrey, on 22 February 1905. Emma Cornelia Eastman lived in 1906 at 172 Kenduskeag Avenue in Bangor. She was prominent in civic, social and charitable affairs. She represented the State of Maine at conventions in Washington, D.C. and in 1936 she organized the Maine Institute of World Affairs. She also organized the Bangor Maternal Health League and was president for a number of years. She wrote and published a book about her father entitled Austin Vitruvius Eastman: His Life. She died on 12 September 1965 at Bangor, Maine, at age 89. She was buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, beside her husband in the family plot.

     Mary Elizabeth Godfrey was born on 14 November 1905 at Bangor, Maine. She was educated in 1928 at Smith College; and earned a graduate degree in psychology at Columbia in 1929. As of 4 March 1944,her married name was Green. She married James Byrd Peale Green on 4 March 1944. Mary Elizabeth Godfrey was a social investigator for the New York City Department of Welfare. She served as Chairman of the Forest Hills Branch of the League of Women Voters and as Chairman of the United Hospital Fund Campaign. In 1965 she was the School Psychologist in Stamford, Connecticut. She died on 12 January 1991 at Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, at age 85.

     Prentiss Godfrey was born on 12 December 1915 at Bangor, Maine. Prentiss attended Somerset School in Bangor and Waussokeag School in Dexter. In 1938 he graduated from Harvard University and in 1941 from the University of Michigan Law School. In 1930 Prentiss learned to fly at "Godfrey's Field", established by his father, which later became Bangor Airport. During World War II he flew submarine patrol missions for the Civil Air Patrol's Coastal Patrol base in Portland. Later he was a civilian pilot and instructor at an Army Air Force glider school in Mobile, Alabama, and afterwards became a US Navy flight instructor. After the War he returned to Bangor to practice law. For 35 years he was closely associated with several banks in the area. He was director of Lincoln Trust Co., and Eastern Trust & Banking Co which merged and became Norstar and then Fleet Bank. He was also a trustee of Brewer Savings Bank. He married (Emma) Frances Edwards on 19 August 1944. Prentiss Godfrey died on 16 March 2011 at Bangor, Maine, at age 95 following a stroke.

     (Emma) Frances Edwards was born on 19 April 1921 at Bangor, Maine. Frances graduated in 1938 from the Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Mass., and from Smith College in 1942. As of 19 August 1944,her married name was Godfrey. She married Prentiss Godfrey, son of Edward Rawson Godfrey and Emma Cornelia Eastman, on 19 August 1944. Frances was a volunteer for the Red Cross, a member of All Souls Church, the Shakespeare Club, the D.A.R., the Bangor Historical Society and a member of the Board of Managers of the Bangor Children's Home. She also enjoyed painting along the Maine coast, and knitting, often designing her own patterns. Frances did a tremendous amount of genealogical research and chronicled a great deal of both her own as well as that of her husband's family, both old New England families who arrived in the US in the 1600s. Her work has been valuable to numerous New England historical societies. (Emma) Frances Edwards died on 2 October 2016 at Bangor, Maine, at age 95 and is buried in Mt Hope Cemetery.

Donald Godfrey
     Donald Godfrey was born on 9 May 1958 at Bangor, Maine. He graduated from Middlesex School of Concord, MA, class of 1976 and Harvard College of Camridge, MA, class of 1980. He worked in finance throughout his career with his final role as Mortgage Lender for Carriage House Mortgage in Falmouth. Donald was also an accomplished pilot. His passion for all things aviation stemmed from his father Prentiss and grandfather, Edward Rawson Godfrey, who established Godfrey Field (airport) in Bangor in 1927. David received numerous awards including the prestigious Wright Brothers Master Pilot Certificate in 2016 as a result of nearly 50 years of flying with a perfect record of safety. Donald was an active member of his community and volunteered with Ronald MacDonal House, Safe Passage of Yarmouth, Junior Achievement and Big Brother, Big Sister. He died on 2 April 2017 at Yarmouth, Maine, at age 58 and is buried in Mt Hope Cemetery in Bangor.

     Cynthia Burbank was born on 15 October 1937 at Boston, Massachusetts; where she grew up. As of 31 October 1959,her married name was Godfrey. For 19 years Cynthia coached field hockey, paddle tennis and lacrosse at Miss Porter's School. She also volunteered at the Gray Lodge, a shelter for teen girls. Cynthia served as President of the Farmington Garden Club and in the 18-hole Ladies Group at the Farmington Country Club. She died on 25 June 2014 at Farmington, Connecticut, at age 76.
